PengiWear

PengiWear’s official blog

Signing off at PengiWear

Happy days here at PengiWear have come to an end but no fear! We’re only re-branding. PengiWear will now be known as SeyrWeyr (said Sayr-Wayr) and we’re migrating to a new site and blog in those respective domains. So we’re saying a fond goodbye for now and check out the f.a.q about the move below for further info:

Q1: why the move?

A1: PengiWear aimed to be both Pittsburgh and family oriented and while we want to stay family friendly in content, we felt the need to expand in both design and blog content beyond just Pittsburgh. It’s a wild, colourful world and we wanted to reflect some of our readers as well.

Q2: Will the new site ever have any non-family oriented content?

A2: depends on what you define as such. Will there ever be adult content? No. Language? Not by SeyrWeyr but we cannot of course police our off-linked pages. The web has free speech after all. What we can say is that we feel SeyrWeyr content will be a bit more grown up. But we’ll still be bringing you Pittsburgh stuff- and updates on the zoo. Because who doesn’t like the zoo now?

Q3: where else will I be able to find the new content?

A3: You can find us and link to us on Facebook, Cafepress, Squiddoo, Gather and DeviantArt. Make friends, tag and link up!

Q4: What does the new name signify?

A4: in Manx ’seyr’ means ‘free’ and we chose it to go with our theme ‘free to design’. We felt it was time to return to our designers’ earlier days before we’d partnered and settled a bit so we could be a little more experimental with our design. So we won’t be doing as much exclusive kids’ stuff.

Q5: Will any of the PengiWear designs carry over to the new shop?

A5: Yes, select designs will carry over to the new shop which is already set up on Zazzle. These will not appear right away however and the old store will still be in working order for some time until complete switchover.

Q6: Will the new blog be similar in content to the Pengi blog?

A6: No. the new blog will reflect SeyrWeyr’s new direction as one focused on art/tech/fun stuff. More or less it will include a hodgepodge of whatever catches the eye of the blogger and comments are always welcome as long as they are in good taste. What’s in good taste? We hope anyone leaving a comment is grown enough to know and judge for themselves- otherwise admin will help.

Q7: Will the new blog be accessible by reader?

A7: Yes, the new blog will be accessible in every way the old one was. Please update your links.

See you soon, same time slightly different place!

Ukrainian Easter Egg sale- Pysanskys!

If you’re not familiar with Pysanksy art, please take this year to instroduce your children to this spectacular cultural tradition right here in Pittsburgh that’s come over from Eastern Europe- gorgeous handcrafted Easter Eggs.  We’ve been to one of these types of events before and recommend it to see the variety of designs alone- try to round up someone to explain to your kids the process of the egg dying if you can- it is a true art.

Many items will be on sale at the parish of St. Peter and St. Paul Ukranian Orthodox Church at their 42nd Annual Pysansky Sale including Ukranian foods for you to try from 11-4. Info at: 412-527-5359  / 412-276-0342

Mr. Rogers’ birthday celebration at the Children’s Museum–MARCH

Pittsburgh Children’s Museum celebrates it’s favourite neighbour’s 80th birthday with free admission, visit from Mr. McFeely, performance by Tim Adams from the Pittsburgh Symphony and a 4 piece string ensemble by the Symphony on 20 March 2008. This is the 6th annual celebration of Mr. Rogers’ birthday and is sponsored by Giant Eagle. If you’ve never been to the Children’s Museum, we recommend you go and check out the Mister Rogers display and dress up in King Friday’s castle (you know, and give the kids some room too…) or have a sit in Trolley!
